Offshore drilling and production assets
Rig Audit & Condition Survey
We carry out detailed rig audits and condition surveys for assets heading into mobilisation, handover, acceptance or reactivation. The focus is on the drilling package, mud and well control systems, marine interfaces, power plant and all the supporting records that determine whether the rig is actually ready for work.
Execution environment
The audit starts on the asset, not in the office
We go out on the rig and check the actual installed condition. Paper records and maintenance history are important, but they don't always match what's really there. Our job is to find those gaps early so you avoid surprises during acceptance or operations.
- Drill floor, machinery spaces and structural condition
- Access limitations and high-exposure areas
- Visible backlog and incomplete corrective actions
- Installed condition versus documented status
- Evidence of degradation, deferral or unapproved modification
- Priority ranking based on operational and safety impact
Audit scope
Built around the systems that decide if the rig is ready
We tailor the scope to your rig type and the actual work it will do. It covers the drilling package, mud and process systems, well control, marine and positioning systems where relevant, power generation, auxiliary machinery, plus records, competency, spares and management controls.
Drilling package
- Derrick, drawworks, crown and travelling blocks
- Top drive, rotary, swivel and associated systems
- Pipe handling, roughnecks, tongs, slips and elevators
- Drilling tools, auxiliaries and lifting interfaces
Mud and well control
- Main mud pumps, solids control, bulk and cement systems
- Standpipe manifolds, rotary hoses and pressure lines
- BOP equipment, control units and remote controls
- Choke and kill systems, valves, connectors and hoses
Electrical systems and high-pressure equipment
- Ballast, DP, jacking, mooring or preload systems as applicable
- Engines, generators, compressors and auxiliary machinery
- Certification, NDE history, calibration and maintenance records
- Competency, critical spares, MOC and management systems
Audit method
We look at condition, records, certification and function together
The process mixes hands-on inspection with a review of equipment history, certification status, NDE records and calibration. Where safe and possible we also check basic function. All of this helps show whether the rig can go into service without major surprises later.
- Physical examination of components, structures and surfaces
- Service history and refurbishment evidence
- Certification, inspection and NDE status verification
- Calibration of pressure devices and critical gauges
- Functional checks on key systems where possible
- Identification of open actions and acceptance blockers
Condition findings
Small issues can turn into big problems at the wrong time
Rigs heading for mobilisation or acceptance often carry hidden defects. Mechanical wear, certification gaps, deferred maintenance, temporary fixes or differences between records and reality. We help you spot and rank them early so you can fix what matters before operations start.
- Mechanical wear, damage and degraded components
- Corrosion, leaks and environmental deterioration
- Non-standard repairs or temporary fixes
- Mismatches between installed condition and documentation
- Outstanding remedial items with operational impact
- Escalation items needing owner or contractor decision
Audit outputs
Deliverables built for real decision making
You get clear information that operators, owners and contractors can actually use for acceptance, planning close-out work and protecting their assets.
Offshore readiness
Catch the important issues early so the rig can go to work with fewer headaches
Our rig audits look at the systems and conditions that really matter for safe and efficient operations. We help identify problems before they become expensive offshore and support smoother acceptance with lower overall risk.
